It's a small world
Caretrace is about connecting people with food and allowing everyone from the farmer to the customer to forge online relationships and enhance our understanding of where food comes from and where it ends up.We believe that by engaging more with the origins of our food, we can take a step towards creating a fairer system of sustainable trade through greater participation and interconnectivity. In a global market, the distance our food travels often makes it impossible to know our producers in the same way that we might have once known our local farmers. With Caretrace, we want to use the internet to make those relationships possible again, so that a customer in London may know her supplier in Ghana just as she also knows her greengrocer next door.Right now you can trace a handful of products back to their growers by exploring maps, watching videos, reading blogs and browsing photo galleries, but we want to do even more. We have lots of ideas for how to improve, such as for creating the facility to add recipes or send e-cards to each other, and we would love to hear your ideas too.
